Moisture can cause plywood fan-stack panels to swell and delaminate. Loose or deteriorating panels can create further equipment problems, making the condition of both panels and framework an important part of the assessment.
ENG-TECH’s published refurbishment example replaces plywood panels with shaped FRP or thermoplastic panels, following the original curvature and using stainless-steel fixings. Retaining the existing framework depends on its condition.

The original example describes a hardwood framework that remained serviceable. That finding cannot be assumed for another tower: supports, connections and curvature need inspection and measurement. Access within the cell and the installation sequence also determine how the work can be carried out.

Does refurbishment always retain the frame?
No. Retention depends on the framework and connections being suitable for the proposed work.
Is a complete new stack also an option?
Yes. Replacement sectional GRP fan stacks are part of the wider component range and can be considered where refurbishment is unsuitable.
